Sunny and Warm
It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon with temperatures climbing into the upper 50s and low 60s. It was a little breezy as dry air continued to push into the area. Winds will calm down a little tonight and tomorrow, but they will switch from the northwest to the west-southwest. The southwesterly winds will help us warm up tomorrow afternoon. How warm will it get and how’s our current drought? Find out in today’s post!
Tonight: clear and chilly. West wind at 5 mph. Low near 36°F.
Friday: sunny and warmer. West-Southwest winds at 5-10 mph. High near 71°F.
Friday will be a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. We’ll start the day with temperatures in the 30s. By the afternoon, many locations should warm up into the upper 60s and low 70s. Models are showing us with temperatures in the mid 60s Friday, but they have been under-performing as observations are much warmer. With that said, I’m adding five to eight degrees on top of what the models are showing. Another system to our west will develop and will try to bring a few extra clouds across North Georgia late Friday night into Saturday. It could give way to a tiny rain chance for North Georgia Saturday afternoon.
The latest drought monitor is out and it shows a moderate to severe drought across North Georgia. The drought conditions have worsen in extreme North Georgia. While drought conditions have improved from last week, we have seen an increase in the extreme drought from four (last week) to five percent across the state.
