It was another hot afternoon with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s. Athens officially recorded a high of 89°F this afternoon. We had a little extra humidity which allowed a few storms to fire up. Most of the rain was north of the Classic City. We’ll likely stay dry for the rest of the night. Could we see rain tomorrow? Find out below!

Quick Forecast:

Tonight: partly cloudy and mild. 20% chance for an isolated storm before 10 p.m. EDT. Light southeast winds. Low near 64°F.

Friday: partly cloudy with a 10% chance for an isolated thunderstorm in the evening hours. Most of us stay dry. South-southeast winds at 5-10 mph. High near 90°F.

Friday’s Forecast

Friday is shaping up to be similar to what we saw today. We’ll likely stay dry tomorrow, but there could be a few isolated showers or storms form to our north and west. I think the best spots to see rain tomorrow will be along and north of I-85. We’ll start the day with temperatures in the 60s. We’ll warm up into the upper 80s to near 90°F.

Drought Monitor Update

The latest drought monitor is showing us in either abnormally dry conditions or in no drought. However, that’s not the case for the majority of the state. Over half the state is seeing moderate drought conditions. The driest parts of the state remain in South Georgia and in parts of Northeast Georgia. Models are showing good rain chances for us as we head into Sunday and Monday. We’ll take any drop of rain we can get!

Video of the Day

It was really sad day to find out that Chris Cornell from Soundgarden/Audioslave passed away. This song still rocks today, and it was the first single Audioslave released. You won’t find another voice like his. Rest in peace.
